Melatonin Use and Poisoning
This article on melatonin is very detailed and informative. I believe most people who use this supplement (or know of others who use it, notably children) will learn new and surprising things.
One highly relevant angle missing from the coverage is the widespread prevalence of OSA or UARS masquerading as insomnia in kids and adolescents. The writer goes down the pathway for behavioral interventions, etc. for insomnia in kids and teens but speaks little about their need for sleep tests. Insomnia in all age groups is routinely fueled by the sleep fragmentation effects of sleep-disordered breathing. If I’m not mistaken, someone has written a book on just this point.
