VIVOS Dental Appliance
An emerging field in the treatment of sleep breathing disorders is called DNA for Day-Night dental appliances. The technical name is distraction osteogenesis, meaning applying pressure to the bones in the jaw to move them and expand the airway. The devices are worn typically for about half of a 24 hour day/night cycle.
This video shows in some detail how the device stretches the dental arches to stimulate new bone growth. This field is rapidly expanding (pun intended) and likely to manifest several technological variations on distraction osteogenesis for the treatment of OSA and UARS.
