What actually causes hyperarousal in chronic insomnia?
A new commentary in Sleep Medicine, a scientific research journal
There’s an original research article in this journal, Sleep Medicine, appearing last month on the topic of how navigate through the options of deprescribing, switching or tapering off sedating medications. A large group of authors participated in writing, but I was disappointed by the lack of any mention of our hyperarousal theory related to undetected sleep-disordered breathing in chronic insomniacs.
Normally, when attempting to comment on an original article, the editor will restrict the word count to 300 or less (Letter to the Editor), but we requested permission to write a 1000 word commentary, which was immediately accepted on submission about a month ago. We were surprised and very grateful the Editor was persuaded of the worthiness of our insights.
My understanding is this link to the commentary can be freely shared with others for at least the next two months.
